Let’s learn about our seasons in the YARRA VALLEY
-
Our hot season. Heat and dry periods become the focus. Watering, mowing height, protecting lawns from heat stress, mulching, harvesting veggies, deadheading and keeping plants hydrated become important.
-
One of the big garden-preparation seasons. Leaf clean-up, lawn repair, feeding, cool-season veggies, pruning appropriate plants, composting, mulching and preparing gardens for the colder/ wetter months.
-
Slower growth, wetter ground, frosts and cold mornings. Less mowing, but still plenty to do: Winter pruning where appropriate, weed control, bare-root planting, soil improvement, veggie gardening and getting everything ready for spring.
-
Growth kicks off. Lawn wakes up, weeds go nuts, flowering begins, veggie planting ramps up, feeding/ fertilizing starts and gardens need more regular attention.
